🤕 Seizures: Scary to watch, some people can panic when dealing with them! A Tonic-Clonic Seizure is caused by a disruption in the electrical signals to and from the brain.
🤓 Recognition: A Sudden Loss of Responsiveness, Rigid Body, Convulsive Movements
First Aid:
✔️ Protect Them from Any Further Injury, clear the area around them and try to place something under their head if you can.
✔️ Time the Seizure and gather Medical History if you can
✔️ Place them in the Recovery Position when they come out of the seizure, they may get cold quickly or may have wet themselves.
✔️ Cover them up with a blanket or coat etc.
✔️ Call 999 if necessary
❌ Don’t restrain them
❌ Don’t put anything in their mouth.
👩⚕️ If the seizure is within their normal times let the casualty decide what to do. Unless other injuries are cause for concern.
🚔 Call 999 if the seizure is longer than normal. If the seizure lasts for more than 5 minutes. If they have repeated seizures.
